Shanghai has an extremely distinctive skyline, in fact, it is a multi-storey city with definite sci-fi look. Instead of sprawling into vast suburban areas, the city went vertical. More than 2,000 buildings are now being planned, but recently the government decided to impose restrictions on the construction of skyscrapers. Notwithstanding the governmental policy, there are plans for a new mega-skyscraper, which will become the nation's modern landmark rivaling the Great Wall. It will have 300 stores and accommodate 100,000 people. But there is much controversy as for this plan.
